  1. This will be an interesting read. Are you going to summarize and/or explain the Second Amendment as interpreted by both sides? Will you be discussing gun control in countries like Australia? I don't own guns, and have no desire to, but I am not against ownership of guns. I am wondering if defining what level of gun control should be controlled...for example, should American be regulated and allowed to own a certain reasonable caliber that would allow them to hunt while not allowing them to own assault rifles or bazookas. Should a person trained in Law Enforcement or the military be allowed to continue ownership of higher caliber weapons than the average citizen? Should renewal of licensing be required for ownership like we do for automobiles, with regular psychological testing of the owner?

    1. The purpose of the article is more to show the impacts of gun control and how they negatively effect society. And using those facts to show that gun control is morally against the constitution, has not worked for other countries and that our right to bear arms is more then just another added freedom. It's a check and balance for the american citizens protection.

  2. Jon has a good point, maybe coming up with a compromise for this essay would be a good way to persuade both sides that there is an acceptable answer. I really like your point of "Do criminals ever follow laws?" That's a point I always bring up when my friends and I discuss this. Another thing that you could fit in there is going into detail about what the other side considers gun control to be... Some of it is quite unreasonable and that's a big part of a persuasive/argumentative essay, presenting the other side's reasoning and proving why it doesn't make sense.

  3. Great discussion and maybe some pointers to consider, Makayla, as you craft your argument! This is a hot topic and tends to strike up conversation that can be somewhat uncomfortable at times.
